The study of geography is very important. All schools devote certain hours for teaching geography to the pupils. This is because geography supplies the pupils with important and useful information about the world in which they live. Studying geography strengthens the pupil’s memory and power of imagination. A merchant needs to know geography, in order to gain much profit. He should send his articles to the places where they are most needed. Sailors find it necessary to learn something about the harbours where they have to stop and the seas and oceans on which they have to sail. The ordinary man cannot understand the contents of a newspaper, a book or a magazine, unless he knows a certain amount of geography.
